When your 17-year-old son suddenly becomes paralyzed due to encephalitis and is not able to speak anymore, it scares you insanely. Even in the moments when he was awake, our son had no idea where he was or what was happening. It is a blessing when a nurse shows continuous optimism. Manuel treated our son like they were best friends. That helped him to keep his sense of humor. The recovery was unexpectedly quick. Manuel was always there. He gave our son the feeling, that everything was ok, even when he needed diapers or a new catheter (something extremely embarrassing for a 17-year-old). He always took us as parents and our worries seriously. We found him to be a very competent contact person in all medical aspects. He never overestimated his skills, and if there were uncertainties, he consulted the doctor. Our son looked forward to Manuel's shifts. We know that without Manuel's kindness, comprehension, empathy, and competence our son wouldn’t have made such great progress. We are very thankful!

Thank you, Manuel, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
