When I was taken from the ER to my hospital room, I was greeted by a bright, cheery face who turned out to be Manuela, the nurse assigned to my room. She was so welcoming, I immediately felt better. I learned during my stay that Manuela has outstanding communication skills – both listening and speaking. She responded to any of my issues or needs by identifying the problem and implementing the best solution, always with a calm attitude. I was pleased that her focus was on me, the person, not my illness. Even though we are many years apart in age, we developed an honest, meaningful, affectionate, relationship with one another. When I was discharged, I honestly felt better about myself as a person than I have in many months. It is obvious to me that Manuela loves her chosen profession and I believe she will be one of the best of the best.
