March 2026 Honoree
Marc Tindoy, RN
I am honored to recognize Marc for his outstanding leadership and meaningful impact on our nursing team, especially during the night shift in the BH unit. Night shift presents unique and often difficult challenges. There is typically less administrative and clinical support available, and urgent situations can arise without immediate access to additional resources. In BH, where patient safety, emotional regulation, and crisis management are constant priorities, this can be especially demanding. Despite these challenges, Marc consistently ensures that the night team feels supported, valued, and prepared. Marc exemplifies extraordinary leadership through his actions. Even during busy shifts, he makes it a point to round on staff, checking in personally to see if we need assistance. He keeps us informed of updates, protocol changes, and patient concerns so that we can provide safe and coordinated care. His visible presence on the unit provides reassurance and promotes a strong sense of teamwork.
What truly sets Marc apart is that he leads by example. He does not position himself as a distant "boss," but as part of the team. He actively participates in patient care when needed, including assisting with de-escalation during behavioral crises. In moments of high tension, he remains calm, therapeutic, and supportive, helping to ensure the safety of both patients and staff. Marc also demonstrates humility and compassion in small but meaningful ways. Rather than redirecting patients by saying, "Talk to your nurse," he will personally assist when appropriate, such as providing a snack or addressing a simple request. These gestures show patients that leadership is present, engaged, and genuinely caring. It reinforces a culture in which no task is beneath anyone and patient care is prioritized. He creates an environment rooted in trust, compassion, and mutual respect.
Staff feel comfortable approaching him with questions or concerns, knowing they will be heard and supported. This fosters psychological safety, which is essential in a high-acuity behavioral health setting. He models professionalism and ethical practice while encouraging confidence and growth among the nursing team. Marc motivates staff by promoting a shared vision of quality patient care. His steady guidance and positive attitude inspire us to perform at our best, even during high-stress situations. Small but meaningful gestures such as thanking the team at the end of a shift go a long way in making overnight nurses feel appreciated and recognized. These moments significantly boost morale and remind us that our work matters.
Through his leadership, Marc enhances the image of nursing within the organization. Hе demonstrates that effective leadership is not only about oversight and management, but about service, collaboration, and compassion. His consistent support has strengthened team cohesion and positively impacted both staff experience and patient care outcomes. For these reasons, I wholeheartedly celebrate Marc as a Nurse Leader who truly embodies the values of trust, respect, teamwork, and excellence in patient care.
