Marcel Kaganovskaya, DNP, FNP-BC, NP-C, CCRN, VA-BC, FNYAM, is our go-to person for mid/PICC line placement and IR requests. He always responds to the request on the same day, and he always clarifies with the medicine team to understand the need and urgency of the request. He has an excellent bedside manner with the patients/veterans. When he places a mid/PICC line, he has a master grip on his skill set: not only is the line placed with minimal discomfort to the patient, but he also follows sterile technique to reduce line-associated infection. I remember I placed a request for a patient who needed a PICC line for labs and IV medications. The veteran/patient had very poor vein/peripheral access and had a strong pain response to needles. When Marcel learned about this request, which I placed after tour hours on a Friday, he reached out to the medicine team to arrange pain meds before the procedure, and he came in the next day, Saturday, early morning, to place the line so the veteran could avoid the painful needles over the weekend. This is just an example of his work ethic and his dedication to his work. During the time I worked here, every time I worked with Marcel, he always exceeded the job expectations. He genuinely cares about the veterans he serves, and he dedicates himself to serving the veteran patients to the best of his ability.
