October 2024 Honoree
Marcel "Marcy" P Thamwiwat, BSN RN
I observed Marcy go above and beyond with a patient who was feeling a bit down and discouraged. She came in for a procedure with no family or friends. She made a few comments that perked our nursing ears that she may need a little more attention. After a successful and smooth procedure, Marcy called the patient's ride to ask if he could delay an hour. He agreed and Marcy then went to Walmart to buy some pampering products.
She washed and combed this patient's hair. She washed her face in a relaxing manner. She helped her brush her teeth for some fresh breath. Marcy allowed this patient the time to relax and regroup before heading back to her assisted living. Not only was the patient so appreciative but Marcy's team was in awe of her service.
In huddle, she received so many shout-outs pointing out this act of kindness. What is even crazier, is this is the second time Marcy has done this for this patient. At her previous visit, Marcy brushed and braided her hair. I hope and pray Marcy keeps this compassion alive in her throughout her entire nursing career.
