Marcelino is an epitome of a good leader, with patience and willingness to make an impact with his knowledge and skills on his colleagues and the patients he cares for.
Patients are often tired of being in the hospital and become anxious and nervous. The hospital is a different environment that sometimes can be non-conducive to a good rest. I had the privilege to see Marcelino dealing with several difficult situations but this one stayed in my memory. Although difficult to put in words all the situation, I must say that it really touched me.
A patient was very nervous and anxious during the shift, not taking any recommendations posed by nurses. The way Marcelino approached the patient, with all patience and respect, he managed to rebuild the trust in the patient. The nursing profession requires sharp technical skills, but interpersonal skills remain of high importance. Marcelino masters this aspect by always being empathetic. After all unsuccessful interactions with the patient, Marcelino managed to earn the trust of the patient and then the patient sought Marcelino's confirmation and support anytime a request for a procedure was done.
In order to deliver efficient nursing care, Marcelino collaborates outstandingly with the physicians and other healthcare professionals for optimum quality patient care. I believe that his length of tenure in this organization paved way for him to prove that he is one of those Extraordinary Nurses.
