Marcia M Kucsma, RN

Marcia is always such a calming presence for our patients. She goes the extra mile to show them compassion in stressful situations. I had a patient who suffered a panic attack after receiving a medication. While I got the doctor and worked on vital signs and charting, Marcia immediately jumped in to hold the patient’s hand, talk to her in a soothing voice, and explain everything that was happening. The patient started to relax right away with Marcia’s soothing tone and touch. I could tell that the patient greatly appreciated her being there and giving her direct attention. After the patient felt more relaxed, Marcia pulled up a chair and continued to sit with the patient and talk to them while they waited to go into the procedure. Marcia went above and beyond to show this patient compassion. Marcia is so deserving of the DAISY Award.
