Marcia gave us her personal cell phone number and made herself available even at home, at all times of the day.
I had an emergency cesarean due to the baby's distress. He had severe meconium aspiration syndrome with pulmonary hypertension, which led to his transfer from Maimonides to CCMC to be put on ECMO. Marcia went above and beyond in her role as ECMO coordinator and RN. She gave us her personal cell phone number and made herself available even at home, at all times of the day. She checked up on him daily, even after the ECMO. Marcia gave us an envelope when we were discharged to send her a picture of him with his name once he was circumcised. Marcia was concerned for our baby's well-being as well as ours.

She was the one who pushed me to extract breast milk when my baby was so sick, saying that it is medicine for the baby. I am forever grateful to her for that because now that he is home, I am breastfeeding him full time! Marcia was the one who asked me if I ever saw my baby while he was on ECMO. (I was recuperating after the c-section. My husband was with the baby in the hospital). When I said "no", she encouraged me to see a picture and sent one to me, together with a picture of the ECMO machine, and explained how it works to me that evening. She called to check on my baby the day after discharge.

All in all, we are blown away by Marcia's dedication, compassion, and empathy. She went way above and beyond any expectations for the nurse and ECMO coordinator that she is! Thank you Marcia once again! We will be forever grateful!
