"It may be lung cancer" - what devastating words. My husband was a direct admission to the Oncology Care Unit on March 16th immediately following an abnormal CT of the chest. The nurses on the unit were fantastic! But the next 2 days, we were fortunate to have Marcie as his primary nurse. We had 2 days of poking, prodding, scans, biopsies - all mixed with trepidation. My husband has always been very independent, in control, and often stoic with those other than family. Marcie was confident with nursing skills, patience, respect for the patient and family, humor, genuine concern, ability to explain while keeping us informed, compassion caused each of us to say on separate occasions - "She is what nursing is all about".

When my husband hugged her at discharge - he said it in spades! We can't thank this nurse enough!
