Marcos had recently taken care of my parent on a recent admission. He was readmitted and had a poor prognosis. He and Marcos had an intense interest in music and had connected because of it. Eventually, the family had decided to withdraw life support. The family mentioned Marcos to me, so I went and told Marcos the update. He came by the patient's room shortly after with his guitar. As we started to withdraw the patient, he told him he'd sing him one last song. Marcos sang the most beautiful and emotional song, everyone was in tears. He continued to stay in the room and play the guitar. He made such a huge impact on the family and turned a hard and difficult time to something more thoughtful and meaningful.
