Marcy-Tanner Garrett is the 2012 Daisy Faculty Award winner for Southwestern Oklahoma State University School of Nursing. Marcy was selected by last year?s graduates who are now working as registered nurses. These RNs were asked to reflect back on their nursing program and select the faculty member who demonstrated the Daisy Faculty Award qualities such as care and compassion, an environment where students could freely express opinions and ideas, a personal interest in student learning, and who collaborated with the healthcare team to facilitate student learning in the patient care environment. Some of the comments made by former students were, ?She was always open to students and went above and beyond to help us?..She listened to us and made changes as a result?.If we didn?t get it the first time, she adapted her teaching style to how we learned best.?
