Margaret is exceptionally bright, kind, compassionate, responsible, and hardworking. The best IV team nurse herself, she is an avid learner, a good role model, a great mentor, and an excellent leader.
Margaret is the perfect example of a senior experienced nurse leading by example, always saying - "Yes - how can I be of help" or "Sure - no problem - we can do that". Anytime I have asked something of Margaret, she and her team have been quick to reply with collegiality, expertise, and alacrity. Whether it was looking at a new type of line that would require changing years of practice, whether it was being asked to try something in a different way, she stepped up to the plate. Margaret's skills as an IV nurse and her years of experience in a leadership role make her a wonderful candidate for the DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award.
2. Margaret Hempstead has dedicated over 40 years of devoted service to patients of Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital (formerly South Nassau Communities Hospital) and to the communities it serves. Margaret is highly respected and has won numerous awards and honors for her selfless service to others. As someone who has devoted her life in service to others, Margaret Hempstead deserves the DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award.
3. Here is a shout-out for a great nurse: Margaret Hempstead, RN IV Team On behalf of the entire OPI team we want to give a special thanks to our IV team for all that they do every single day. You all are truly members of the OPI team, and this unit would not function without your assistance. A big thank you to Margaret who is always ready, willing, and able to support our nursing staff. Your knowledge and expertise are unmatched, and we are so grateful for you!
4. Margaret is the pillar and outstanding nurse manager of our IV team. Under her leadership, our IV team has met the tough challenges and expanded their services to ensure all of our elderly and frail patients have adequate IV access, from peripheral iv to midline to PICC line, for the administration of necessary intravenous medications, blood transfusions, chemotherapy, etc. Margaret is exceptionally bright, kind, compassionate, responsible, and hardworking. The best IV team nurse herself, she is an avid learner, a good role model, a great mentor, and an excellent leader. She is a physicians' best friend, many times a lifesaver, always available to help, and always successful when an emergent iv access is needed in a patient with difficult iv access. She strives to keep up with the most current standards and practice guidelines, constantly improving the techniques and scopes of iv access for our patients. Her emphasis and commitment to quality have significantly helped to improve the quality and outcome of patient care at MSSN. I have never observed any serious complications related to the placement of iv access by IV team during my 15-year tenure here. I strongly recommend Margaret for the DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award.
5. Margaret has been a positive influence at Mount Sinai South Nassau for 44 years. She has dedicated her professional life to assisting those in need, in both the acute inpatient setting and the community. She has been recognized as the 2022 March/April National Infusion Nurses Society recipient for leadership in the specialty of infusion and vascular access services, the 2018 Molloy College Alumni Recipient for continued Nursing Education and Community Services, and the 2017 Recipient of the Gaylene Puglisi Metro Island INS chapter for Education in Infusion Therapy to our younger upcoming Nurses.
