My granddaughter was born at CHOP and was quickly moved to the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. While there, I did witness Margaret's medical support first hand for several days. She was most efficient, effective and always explained what she was going to do and why. She did this in a manner that was consistently courteous and polite. Her answers to questions were always understandable by adjusting explanations to the questioner. I am not a medical professional nor have any medical training but my daughter-in-law does. Margaret's answers were alway adjusted to the questioner. Regardless of the topic, trivial or complex, she spoke in quiet and reassuring tones. Margaret was quick and ready to lend and assist support to her peers in the pod by seeing a need and filling it often without being asked and almost always thanked for her assistance. She showed constant caring with compassion for my granddaughter and other patients as well.

My granddaughter passed away at CHOP. In her last hours, we were moved to a private room. It was in this setting and time of extreme emotional sadness that Margaret's extraordinary caring was once again seen and felt. To say that it was unbelievable would not be correct because it was most believable given Margaret's personality. She could not have been kinder, gentler in these circumstances. She told us what was coming next with a quiet and relaxed calm manner that transferred to us surrounding my granddaughter. She never hurried us and was always sensitive to our needs.

These comments do not do justice to the service and care demonstrated by Margaret but they offer a small insight to her character, professionalism and expertise. She is indeed a highly valued asset to CHOP and a most impressive role model.
