There was an elderly patient who had spent the entire day being shuffled from one healthcare facility to another. She received a transfusion which is normally uneventful for her but this time her specimen was reactive with all cells tested. The patient was now advised to make the journey from Greenville, AL. to Baptist South. The testing that needed to be done would require her port to be accessed to draw blood but as lab employees, we are not familiar with the process. Margaret was the only person to actually come to the lab to look at the patient's port and orders. Margaret explained the entire process in detail and assured us that we had the correct orders for the procedure. Margaret was so diligent, determined, patient and knowledgeable. We appreciate her so much for turning an extremely frustrating day for the family into a pleasant success.
