She was not only caring for him, but for me as well.
My husband had been in the Mayo Hospital for over two weeks and feeling confined when Margaux became his nurse. He had many excellent nurses, but Margaux was exceptional as she was very patient and understanding with both him and me. She even offered to help me with papers I was trying to understand about his next placement. She came in later when he was having a difficult time and offered to take him for a ride in the wheelchair so that he could see something outside his room. No one else ever offered to do that, and she said she could do it alone by using the lift to transfer him. He immediately "perked" up, became more aware and enjoyed seeing something outside his room. When we returned and he was settled into bed, she offered to do the same the next day which she did! I had planned to stay home on that day to sign forms, so I felt relief that he would have such wonderful care.

Later, after I returned home, Margaux called to have me talk to him on the phone to calm him down, as he was anxious. Then at 7:30 pm, after her long day, she called again to tell me he had fallen asleep and was peaceful, so I could feel relieved that he was calm for the evening. She was not only caring for him, but for me as well. Because I knew Margaux would be his nurse the next day, I felt peace that he was in the best hospital and had the best nurse he has had over the past two months when he has been in one hospital twice and the Mayo Hospital for over two weeks. Thank you, Mayo, for having such great staff for care, including the support staff and the doctors as well!
