Marguerite quickly noticed that I was an anxious mum who’d had a traumatic first birth. She spent lots of time with me reassuring me and talking through all my options. This was the first time I felt I’d had a conversation that was more than clinical but about me and the baby. She gave me her number to call any time and I felt like she was genuinely advocating in my best interests. Even when they weren’t necessarily in the hospital's best interests. And after the baby was born and we had feeding issues Marguerite made sure she saw us personally. Without her, my anxiety post-birth would have been so much worse but she saw me and calmed me down. I really credit her with the feeding issues resolving and us going on to breastfeed successfully (and we still are). I’m actually crying while typing this remembering what a difficult time it was for me (even though it’s 8 months ago now!) and how without Marguerite I’d have been less able to cope mentally.
