Mari's patients report feeling incredibly supported and cared for during their birth when I interview them after their delivery.
Mari is a Certified Nurse Midwife who came to Jefferson Center City in October 2019. Although she has only worked at Jefferson for a year, she has had a tremendous impact on her patients and her colleagues. Mari cares for women in the prenatal period in our ambulatory clinics and in the city health centers. She is remarkably empathetic, and she is able to establish close relationships with her patients in the prenatal setting. She does this in the birthing suite as well.
Mari's patients report feeling incredibly supported and cared for during their birth when I interview them after their delivery. Mari's philosophy is that it's her job to empower women to own their birth experiences and to help them realize just how strong they are when they are pregnant, laboring, and birthing their babies. She takes that job seriously, but she does it in a way that makes everyone in the room feel involved and comfortable.
Mari has established close relationships with her colleagues over the past year as well. She works closely with residents, nurses, and medical assistants. She has done an amazing job bringing all of the disciplines together. She is an advocate for both her patients and her co-workers. Mari has boundless energy.
When she's not taking care of patients or of us, she works on a number of different PI projects. Mari is deeply passionate about labor support, improving perinatal palliative care, and addressing implicit bias in healthcare. She has facilitated many workshops for us on all of these topics. Mari is so committed to her patients, her Jefferson family, and making us all better at what we do. She gives her work and her people everything that she has and then some. Did I mention that she's published? The woman does it all!
