At all times, she kept tabs on me, asking what else she could do to make me comfortable and more relaxed (I was so scared).
There is no doubt that St Bernardine’s has the best care, compassion, and professionalism in every aspect, but may I tell you about “Angie”, my nurse while I was in E.R. overflow in December. I was brought in by ambulance after fainting from loss of blood at my home. The E.R. was incredibly packed, and they were setting up the overflow room with patients lined up ready to occupy nearly every bed. Angie was cheerful, reassuring, and treated me like a “priority”, although she had so much to do. At times, she was called to assist elsewhere, and other times, I heard her offer to help where needed. At all times, she kept tabs on me, asking what else she could do to make me comfortable and more relaxed (I was so scared). Angie stayed with me during the blood transfusion, constantly checking, always smiling, patting my hand, and checking vitals. She reassured me that everything was okay, and she would stay as long as she could, as her shift was ending soon. Before I was admitted to a room upstairs, I asked her name so I could nominate her for a DAISY Award. She seemed hesitant but actually filled out a form with her name so I could complete it at a later time. Somehow, that form disappeared during my stay. I have neglected to follow up, as I could not find the right info online, until today, when I was told to use this format. So please consider this sweet angel of a nurse for your DAISY Award. I was just one of her many patients that night, but she made me feel so special, so cared for, and in such good hands. All with a beautiful smile, humor, and tons of positive energy. Thank you for all you do, St Bernardine’s.
