Maria Castaneda 2, BSN, RN
I would like to recognize Nurse Maria from the ICU for the exceptional care she provided to my mother. Maria’s compassion and kindness truly shine through in the way she cares for both her patients and their families. She is extremely knowledgeable and takes the time to explain everything in detail, ensuring we fully understood what was happening with my mother’s condition. During a very stressful and emotional time, her calm presence and clear communication made an incredible difference.
We had requested a different nurse, and Maria was assigned to my mother’s care. She quickly recognized significant changes in my mother’s condition. After thoroughly reviewing her test results and collaborating with the doctor, Maria identified that my mother’s hemoglobin was low and that she required a blood transfusion. Later that day, my mother received the transfusion, and her symptoms improved.
Maria’s attentiveness, clinical expertise, and genuine compassion were truly exceptional. She advocates for her patients and treats them with dignity and respect. She is the kind of nurse every healthcare professional should aspire to be.
Maria absolutely deserves the DAISY Award and every recognition available in nursing. Our family will always be grateful for the care she provided.
