Maria Christina Hernandez, RN was nominated not just by one person for the DAISY AWARD, but the entire Surgical Services Staff at Memorial Hospital West in Pembroke Pines, Florida. Maria's nomination form was over 10 pages long containing over 100 support signatures from Registered Nurses, Surgeons, Anesthesia providers, Patient Care Associates, Unit Secretaries, First Assists and Management.

Maria has been recognized by her peers and leaders for "always being there". Maria will do whatever it takes to ensure that the Surgical Patient has whatever is needed to ensure safe, high quality treatment and procedures (circulating, scrub, transport, scheduling, family communication, etc.). Maria is a true DAISY nurse. Maria does not see barriers when it comes to providing safe, high quality patient care. Maria is there to ensure every patient and every staff member in the operating room has exactly what is needed.
