Maria Elsey, RN

My Mum was in a house fire. She was in hospital for months, including the ICU twice, on a ventilator. Maria goes above and beyond to care for my Mum on a daily basis. Maria is at the end of the phone (text) to speak to Mum about anything related to her care.

She is a kind and compassionate nurse. She has been with my Mum for every step of her care since her tracheostomy was fitted two months after the fire. 

Maria comes out to Mum's home to visit her regularly, as well as seeing her in the hospital for regular tracheostomy tube changes. She has not only helped Mum with her tracheostomy, but she’s been Mum's biggest cheerleader too, encouraging her to be the best version of herself she can be.

She has been there every time any of the family has asked for assistance, as well as Mum. Her professional intelligence in her role always ensures we are confident in what she is doing with Mum's care.

My Mum is emotional reading what I have just written. She honestly has been the constant care and presence Mum has really needed.

She deserves this recognition in our eyes, as she is an exceptional nurse who never falters to provide the very best care and more to her patients, and she does so in the best way possible.
