I've had four surgeries in the past 41 days and Maria has been my nurse for a lot of my hospital stays. She always wears a smile and is friendly, compassionate, personable, empathetic, and takes time with you and explains what she is doing to keep me a part of the care I am receiving. She makes each patient feel as though they are her only concern when she is in the room with you. She practices making you feel special and [in the] most generous way. Maria pops in even when I haven't pressed the call button, just to see if you need something and if she sees something that needs to be done, whether it is her job or not, she takes care of it. When I do need her she is very prompt in attending to my need at hand.
I can't tell you enough about her and how special she is and she is an exemplary employee and asset to her team.
Another example of her kindness - my mother has been sitting with me during this hospital stay and she has early dementia. Although we were not planning on having to stay in the hospital more than one night, and we live 3 hours away, she offered to bring my mother a change of clothes from her home for my mother. Although not necessary it meant a whole lot to us. I feel Maria is truly an Extraordinary Nurse.
