She is a leader who not only supports us professionally but also genuinely cares about our personal well-being.
The DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award was created to recognize nurses who have dedicated their entire professional lives to the compassionate care of others. This award honors those whose lifelong commitment to nursing has transformed the profession through mentorship, personal example, advocacy for quality and patient safety, and the promotion of a positive image of nursing. They are also a source of inspiration for nurses at every stage of their careers and across the many important roles within our profession.
Today, the nurses of TecSalud want to recognize Maria for a lifetime devoted to quality, patient safety, and, above all, for the transformation she has brought to nursing throughout the years.
Even before I had the opportunity to truly know her, a simple five-minute conversation was enough for me to say, “I have to work with her because she has so much to teach me.” I even told others this at the time, and my instincts could not have been more right.
Today, I am deeply grateful for the privilege of being led by Maria. As I have shared with her before, thank you for challenging me, guiding me, supporting me, correcting me, and advising me. Most importantly, thank you for reminding me to take care of my heart. She is a leader who not only supports us professionally but also genuinely cares about our personal well-being.
The impact people leave through their work, their energy, and their heart creates an echo that lasts through time, and that is exactly the legacy Maria has built in every opportunity she has had to lead others. Thank you for reminding us to be brave, for encouraging us to aspire higher, and for helping us pursue our greatest goal: becoming the best nursing team we can be.
Thank you for supporting and promoting every project we create to improve both patient care and the well-being of our nursing staff. The position you hold is not an easy one, leading more than 700 nurses, collaborating with multiple departments, and managing the daily challenges and conflicts that naturally arise in any organization. Yet you handle it all with professionalism, respect, and grace.
Today, we honor everything you have cultivated throughout your years as a nurse: a life dedicated to caring, transforming, and elevating the science and art of nursing.
Thank you for being a leader who knows the way, walks the path, and shows the rest of us how to follow it.
