One all star after another, nurse Maria would walk into the room, addressing patient A, saying hi, trying to get him to respond through his fog, conversing with him one sided, letting him know what she was doing, and asking his permission to do what she needed to do. Maria gave patient A hope that he was in excellent hands and he could relax and let the professionals do their work.
