That simple gesture meant a lot to her and to me. Even brought tears to my eyes.
My daughter, J, battled brain cancer for 8 years, and on her very last stay at Queen of the Valley, she was cared for by nurse Loiselle. Though Loiselle is the Charge Nurse, she found time to regularly check on my daughter and ensured she was comfortable and pain-free.
At the end of her shift, Loiselle would call us and let us know how our daughter's night went. When we put her on hospice and the doctors allowed our daughter to eat, Loiselle asked what her favorite food was and got a delivery of J’s favorite Panera sandwich so she could eat food that she would enjoy instead of the standard bland hospital food. That simple gesture meant a lot to her and to me. Even brought tears to my eyes. This nurse showed true compassion and caring that we appreciated so much.
