May 2025 Honoree
Maria "Mackie" Miquiabas, RN
Some 8 years ago, my son, a retired USAF Major C-5 pilot at Travis Air Force Base, was diagnosed with cancer, a form common among pilots. Treatment included chemotherapy administered at David Grant Medical Center. The nurse who administered and supervised the sessions was “Mackie”.
The cancer, a slow-growing variety, was not eradicated, so my son found himself back in the hands of “Mackie” for an additional series of treatment just recently completed. Both then and 8 years ago have been exceedingly anxiety-ridden for me, as I have already lost one son.
That my son has had Mackie taking care of him has been a God-send! Her expertise, smile, caring attitude, compassion, and professionalism were evident every moment. Her consideration of me as I check in (and on) my son as a worried mother was and still is much appreciated. We Love Mackie!

Thank you, Maria "Mackie", for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
