Recently, a surgical patient arrived at the facility at 0400. The patient was from a nursing facility, with a trach, and on oxygen. The facility was instructed to have the patient here at 0630, but they arrived early. The Nursing supervisor on duty, Maria Onwukwe RN, took it upon herself to ensure the patient was cared for and safe until the pre-op staff arrived to assume the patient's care.
Maria is always known to be a team player, but she went above and beyond by helping this patient, the surgical services department, and Midtown as a whole, to provide the very best possible care for our patient and his family.
