Professionalism is easy to find in a nurse, but empathy, true caring, and spending extra time talking and listening are somewhat rare. A friend with a great smile and laugh. Maria's attitude and getting involved with her patients show a level of being human seldom seen. She listens all the time and is always concerned. Her explanations of procedures are simple and informative and have helped me learn more ways to approach things, like removing a Foley catheter. She has a great smile and uses it to put you at ease. More than that she makes you feel like a friend, not just a patient. It has been wonderful to develop a rapport with her. She cares and is fun. We have learned about our families. In short, I found a friend who is also a fantastic nurse!
