Thankfully, we had an angel named Maria who, when we expressed our concerns to her, responded with "don't worry I've got her".
I would like to recognize Maria for her kind and caring ways, her cheerful disposition, and her attentiveness and compassion to my family during a very stressful time. My mom was admitted to Silver Cross and spent over four weeks there for a myriad of issues. My dad and I took shifts, spending our days there with my mom until week three when Covid reared its ugly head again and the hospital had to stop allowing visitors. This was especially troubling to us because my mom required so much assistance with everything and we knew the nurses and assistants were pretty overwhelmed with the quickly changing protocols. Thankfully, we had an angel named Maria who, when we expressed our concerns to her, responded with "don't worry I've got her". My mom always loved when Maria was her nurse anyway, but then she went above and beyond to make sure that mom was well taken care of while keeping our family informed and reassured when we weren’t able to visit her. My mom was extremely weak and couldn’t really talk on the phone or text so knowing Maria was there to care for her and fill the other nurses in on the intricacies of her case. I truly don’t know what we would have done without her!
