January 2022 Honoree
Maria Susana L Odon, RN
I went to visit my partner. As a family member to the patient, I wanted to talk to his nurse. I understood that the nurse Susie O. was busy checking other patients. I patiently waited for her. Susie saw me and talked to me. She looked very kind and she updated me on his condition. I mentioned that B’s sister who came from Texas wanted a visit, although she was unable to talk or touch her brother. Susie was so kind and she offered to call B and she held the phone up to his ear. It worked. B heard his sister’s voice and he opened one eye. What a great surprise to her. She didn’t expect that. This had happened a few hours before I had come to visit the same day. Susie had also offered for me to call B and she held the phone up to his ear. This was the only way with B’s condition that I can talk to him. And when I talked to him, both his eyes were open. I was so happy to see this. On behalf of the family, I appreciate and want to thank Susie for her help and dedication for us to communicate with our family member!
Thank you, Maria Susana L, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
