Maria Suvacarov MSN, RN, CCRN, CEN is the deserving recipient of the March DAISY award. Maria is the Clinical Educator of Critical Care and the Emergency Department at Adventist Hinsdale Hospital.
Maria applies evidence based knowledge into practice. She has effectively introduced the Hypothermia protocol for cardiac arrest. She also has evaluated our Ventilator associated Pneumonia protocol for its effectiveness and continually looks at all equipment needed for evidence based practice to assure that we can always provide optimal care. Maria is an extremely effective teacher. She has been a driving force in raising our percentage of certified nurses. Maria is an astute clinician. She is always helpful when she rounds in the units. She can quickly zero in on unanswered questions and is able to provide support whenever needed. On one occasion she returned within 10 minutes with a request for written information! What a resource! Maria is compassionate. She lends an understanding ear to any staff issues and provides support to our patients and families. She is careful, though to let the primary nurse lead the care as to not disrupt the bedside nurse’s relationship with the patient. Thanks Maria and Congratulations!!!
