Maria Ventimiglia, RN on Winchester Hospital's Oncology unit is the most recent recipient of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses after a patient nominated her because of "her compassion and sensitivity." According to the patient, she mentioned to Maria how she would love to take a shower. Before the end of her shift, Maria asked if it would be OK if she washed the patient's hair. "I was pleasantly surprised by this little extra she was willing to do for me," the patient wrote.
