Once we arrived, we were all separated. It was at this moment that I had the pleasure of meeting the best nurse that I have ever had or experienced anyone to have.
On Thanksgiving Day my family and I were traveling on the interstate to our families for lunch. While on our way there, we were involved in a major car accident involving multiple vehicles. In our vehicle was my husband, our 13-year-old son, and then me. We were all rushed to Greenville's emergency department. Once we arrived, we were all separated. It was at this moment that I had the pleasure of meeting the best nurse that I have ever had or experienced anyone to have.

As soon as I entered the room Maria was very attentive, she evaluated me to see where I was hurt. She was very caring and gentle. She asked what happened, so I explained the situation to her and expressed my concern for my husband and son because we were all separated. She immediately reassured me that we were in the best hands. She went over and beyond for our family. Our son was cleared within an hour, so some family members came to get him. But my husband was in the worst shape of all of us. She went to check on him in the trauma unit when she came back; she said I can't share any details with you, but he is stable. She said I'm going to give him my phone so y'all can FaceTime. But I told her there was no need since I had his phone and asked her to please give it to him so we could communicate. This was one of the best things because I hadn't thought of doing this until she volunteered to let him FaceTime me.

She made sure that I didn't have to wait long for my scans. She volunteered to take me down for scans instead of having the CT team come to get me. One thing that really stood out to me was that multiple nurses would come up to Maria and ask her for advice. She was very willing to help answer all their questions. I asked her later if she was a head nurse because I was curious as to why all the people were asking her for advice. She replied no I'm not a head nurse, I just like being a team player and helping where I can. I was very impressed that she had such a great attitude, given that she was having to work on a holiday.

Maria made what was one of the most traumatic experiences for our family into a much better experience just by showing that she cared. I would highly recommend anyone to have her as their nurse and any Dr. that has the pleasure of working with here should consider themselves very lucky!! I want to say THANK YOU MARIA!!! She is really deserving of this award!!!
