I had a hysterectomy at SJH and I was blessed to have Mariafe as part of my team. She left a huge impression on me. I came in that morning stressed, scared, and anxious. She came in to introduce herself during pre-op and was there when I was being wheeled into the OR.

I was a mess as I had just said goodbye to my family and was crying and couldn’t hold back the tears. She held my hands the whole time while they were finishing prepping me in the OR and she even wiped a tear from my cheek a couple of times.

She was the sweetest and most compassionate nurse I experienced during my 3 procedures I have had this year, trying to avoid this surgery.

While I was a hot mess on the outside, she helped me feel calm on the inside with her kindheartedness. I can’t thank her enough for the kindness she showed me while I was feeling so much stress and anxiety. I know this is something she must deal with on an everyday basis. She made me feel like I was more than just another patient that day.
