Every day Mariah comes to work I know that not only are her patients getting the most amazing nursing care, but they are also being supported emotionally. The most recent example of this came when we had two 6-year-old patients who had become friends and wanted a place to "hang out". Mariah positioned chairs, tv stands, and bedside tables in a circle and covered them with blankets and sheets to make the two little boys a fort to hang out in. She even put down blanket and pillows on the floor so they would be even more comfortable. The patients loved it! They played in that fort all afternoon and the nurses were climbing all over the floor with them to keep them safe. Mariah did all of this to make these boys so happy, but at the same time was providing the best nursing care.
