After coming in from the ER with an incredible amount of pain, causing blackouts, I landed in general surgery/5th floor, where I was to have surgery on my two large cancerous tumors. Mariah was my night nurse. Prior to surgery, she kept the intense pain and nausea I had in check. After having bad days with pain, nausea, and blackout episodes, Mariah was always able to maintain my comfort and be vigilant so that I was able to rest.
After surgery, Mariah made sure I was always comfortable and never had any moments where pain or nausea got out of control. Although these acts may fall in the normal line of care to some, for me, Mariah's vigilance and consistent care were incredibly important in my prompt recovery and helped me get home quickly.
