My Father-in-law has been in oncology for nearly a week and has had many nurses this time, but none stand out like Mariah.
She is kind and compassionate and always has time to listen to him, whether he's talking about the care he needs or his love of guitars. She pays close attention to detail, like when she noticed the dressing on his arm needed changing and most importantly she makes him feel calm and normal when he's feeling scared.
She took the time to help him pick what he wanted to eat from the menu and she listened to him play guitar. This afternoon, she spent over an hour with him sitting in his room talking to him (when we had gone out to get some lunch). I'm not sure what they talked about specifically, but when we got back he seemed much happier and brighter. She really made a difference and helped brighten his day.
She's a lovely person and the best nurse. Thank you, Mariah, for your compassion, attention to detail, friendliness and professional excellence.
