My husband has colon cancer. We have had a frightening few weeks between diagnosis and admission, reassured only when we came under the care of St Mark’s Hospital and Professor F. We came to the London Clinic the day before surgery for a Pre-op discussion for a sub-total colectomy for my husband, IT. Mariana Devezas showed such thoroughness in her role with sensitivity and reassurance, going above and beyond to ensure both IT and I knew everything we needed to know about the surgery and aftercare. She championed her Prof and the abilities of the entire colo-rectal team at the London Clinic with great confidence combined with humility and care. She made us feel that this wasn’t the beginning of the end and that IT had the best team operating and looking after him, and a full recovery was certainly possible (with some lifestyle adjustments). The emotional rollercoaster we have been on has steadied considerably, in part thanks to Mariana.
