After the delivery, as we were overwhelmed with grief, Mariana got down on her knees and comforted my daughter at eye level, speaking gently, consoling her, and even crying with her.
I am honored to nominate Mariana Gonzalez for a DAISY Award in recognition of the extraordinary compassion and support she provided to my daughter and family during an unexpected and devastating medical crisis.
Shortly after arriving in Florida for a family vacation with my 3 daughters and their friend, my 19-week-pregnant daughter became severely ill and showed signs of infection. I took her to AdventHealth Palm Parkway ER, where we learned her baby had passed. She was then transferred to AdventHealth Orlando to deliver her baby. During this heartbreaking experience, Mariana cared for her; her dedication and humanity were remarkable.
Mariana patiently guided me through complex and emotional paperwork regarding testing, autopsy options, and funeral arrangements, answering every question I had with clarity and empathy. She went out of her way to meet our needs- purchasing a phone charger for me when mine was at the hotel and personally walking us to our car when we were discharged.
Most importantly, her compassion toward my daughter was truly unforgettable and will stay with me forever.
