Mariana advocated for her surgery time to be moved up by almost 3 hours, which in turn was probably a lifesaver given how much blood K had lost by this point.
Back at the end of January 2024, my wife K had been to the ER by this point multiple times for hemorrhaging. When we were finally admitted to the hospital, Mariana made sure that she was taken care of and advocated for her to 1) get a surgery date moved up by almost 2 weeks, given the severity of my wife’s health condition, and 2) be pleasant but firm while doing so. Even on the day of surgery, K started bleeding again even though she was on medicine that was supposed to prevent this. Mariana advocated for her surgery time to be moved up by almost 3 hours, which in turn was probably a lifesaver given how much blood K had lost by this point. She had already received 2 blood transfusions on separate days within a 72 hour window. Mariana was instrumental in ensuring her patient was treated accordingly and promptly, but she also was a blessing to be around and made a traumatic time for us that much more pleasant. I am glad to know there are nurses like Mariana doing their jobs as a mission and not just punching a clock. Mariana, you are awesome. Thank you sincerely for all you do.
