My son wanted to nominate Marianne because "she's awesome". Marianne was very responsive while caring for my son. She stopped a few times just to make sure we didn't need anything and that he was doing OK. It meant a lot to me as a parent that she also stopped to say goodnight before she left. Marianne went out of her way to help when I needed to see the Doctor at time of discharge.

Marianne was the best nurse at CHOP that we encountered and one of the best I have ever met in a career in which I worked as an EMS and health care support at different times. Marianne was always compassionate, knowledgeable, responsive, and never afraid to check for answers and advocate for my son. During an especially difficult test, Marianne was the nurse who was responsible to monitor my son and properly draw blood following a rigid protocol. Despite the difficulty and stress, she perfectly completed her tasks while still comforting my son.
On another occasion, I woke up in the middle of the night and found Marianne holding, singing and rocking my son in her arms. Her compassion was touching.
