We had an elderly patient who was very confused and calling for his/her mother. Marianne wanted to comfort the patient so she made time to sit by the bedside and took the patient's hand in hers as she helped the patient feel more at ease.

There was also the time when Marianne comforted a patient who needed to be in isolation. This patient was scared and felt alone. Marianne sensed that the patient needed to talk about what was on her mind so Marianne arranged what she called "alone girl time". She and the tech lovingly gave the patient a shower and buffed and puffed her so she looked wonderful. During that time, the patient expressed her loneliness and fears. Marianne spent a lot of time with the patient that day, her only concern was for her other patients; however, other staff members helped take care of her other patients so that Marianne could provide the quality "alone girl time" with this patient.

This is Marianne......giving, compassionate, unselfish and always thinking beyond herself.
