During the 8 years of my husband's care at DFCI, Marianne became the person we both turned to for everything. She was our friend, clinician, guide and sounding board. She was someone who kept us optimistic while able to explain in lay terms what was going on, what we needed to work towards and allowed my husband to express his own ideas. She forwarded his ideas to his team of doctors and arranged team meetings for us. My husband and I always felt that she and the doctors were not only there to treat him, but to walk us both through this journey in the direction we wished to go. I am grateful for the last 8 years he had of life.
