I want to praise one of our valued team members for portraying outstanding qualities, especially over the past couple of months. That individual has become the beacon of leadership in the clinic, as she has continued to portray exceptional model behaviors for her peers here in clinic.
An example of this is how she deals with highly stressful situations in clinic, on a daily basis. It is rare when there is no such situation in clinic, given the number of patients seen every week, there is almost always incidents that require problem-solving in a quick and effective way. Mari handles these situations gracefully, employing patience while maneuvering her way through unexpected uncomfortable scenarios. Mari adheres diligently to the AIDET model, even on the busiest days; making sure to acknowledge those families she comes in contact with. Mari introduces herself and her team to lessen the family's anxiety about being in the clinic. We all know what it is like to be in a doctors' office, and I feel for that reason that Mari is able to empathize so well with families, as she takes the time to explain how the clinic works and the expected duration of the visit. Regardless of the simplicity or complexity of the issues that arise in clinic, Mari is appreciative of every single one of her patients, thanking them and their families for sharing their time with her staff in clinic.
Mari has seen plenty of scenarios where family issues arise during a visit to clinic, and the support of additional clinic staff is required to manage the situation; Mari always steps up to the plate, dropping whatever work she may have to make it her job that our families have the support needed to either have a ride back home, or be assured that whatever needs to be done in clinic is done.
Mari places others before herself, even in the wake of difficult moments in her personal life. With the recent death of her father, Mari was asked to continue working and excelling in the clinic, and she did so without missing a beat. Mari is able to support staff and fill the gaps when her employees are absent or in other areas. Mari wears different hats in the office when needed, showing up to work with a strong commitment to get the job, whatever that may be for the day, done.
The great thing about Mari is that although she has a passionate and assertive attitude to get things done, she also has a soft and compassionate side that helps to deeply soothe her employees and the families we see in clinic. This has a resoundingly calming effect for everyone in clinic, as she is able to meet the needs and concerns of her staff, whether it is help with personal issues or supporting them in their roles at work, Mari effectively and selflessly provides an open ear to those around her. Mari is open and flexible to her peers' ideas and supports the notion of their personal growth. Therefore, she has built a great rapport with her team and patients and she has earned her teams' trust.
As a clinic, we are grateful for Mari as she portrays what true leadership should be, which is an exceptional work ethic while empowering those around her to do the same. Maribel is an outstanding UHS employee who exceeds all expectations. She also is the glue of our very busy Pediatric Endocrine Clinic who holds us together as a team. Maribel is a consummate medical care provider who strives to excel in our clinic team's ability to provide high-quality customer service with a respectful attitude and high-quality medical care consistently.
Maribel assumes responsibility for overseeing the clinic nursing care decisions and staffing. She also is invaluable in her ability to deftly manage the distribution of clinic responsibilities due to her depth of knowledge regarding the various roles of our staff. She is uniquely qualified to best determine the scope of practice for their assignments and performance in their roles. I directly attribute much of our high volume flow and high patient satisfaction ratings to Mari's ability to apply her medical knowledge, judgment and comprehensive supervision to provide oversight of our clinic. There has never been a day that Maribel has not gone beyond her assigned duties to do an outstanding job in our clinic. I first met Maribel over ten years ago when she first worked in our clinic as our front desk receptionist. Families received personal and respectful attention as she competently mastered all the tasks for not only her role but also for assisting with staff in other roles to assure that our clinic ran smoothly.
