July 2020 Honoree
maricel cadabes, RN
Maricel helped me through the most painful and trying nights of my life. Without her compassion attentiveness, warmth, and skill I would not be able to look back on the labor and birth of my son as a positive experience. The love she brings to her work defined my birth experience as a beautiful one, despite nearly everything on my "birth plan" being abandoned. There are many amazing nurses in Labor and Delivery at The Queen who helped us have a wonderful birth, but Maricel stands out because of the poise and grace she provided not only in my most difficult moment but also amid the scanning chaos of an over-capacity crazy busy night. I only knew of the hectic, nearly impossible pace outside my room after because Maricel created a bubble of peace and calm for my own labor.
I entered the birth with a fear of hospital and a strong distrust of the medical establishment; because of the amazing staff and particularly the loving care of Marciel, my comfort and trust in the care I will receive when admitted at the Queen is so much higher. My experience was life-changing for the better, not only because my son was brought into the world but because he was brought with love with the help of Maricel.

Thank you, Maricel, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
