There is no one more deserving of the DAISY Award than Marichu Bernardo. I have watched her care for patients with multiple organ system dysfunctions with grace and professionalism. Families consistently recognize Marichu’s skills and knowledge. She has successfully gained the trust of patients and families when no one else could.

Marichu is calm, informed and relentless, a true example of what every patient wants and needs while recovering from illness. Because Marichu works in the ICU the patients lack the ability to write a nomination so we are writing on their behalf. I would like to recognize Marichu’s commitment to patient and family centered care, and can attest that her smile and mannerisms warm the heart of those around her. Marichu is known for being a person that would do just about anything for everyone. She takes care of her patients, their families and her co-workers with a smile on her face. Often Marichu knows what is needed and takes care of it before you even realize you need something.
