There is something to be said about the importance of nursing care. Great nurses have a professional bedside manner, administer medications accurately and on time, and monitor patient stability&. Medical care cannot be delivered without great nursing. We have been fortunate to have had experiences with many great nurses, and we also had the privilege of meeting Marie. Marie is an exceptional and extraordinary nurse. In October 2024, our family was eagerly awaiting the birth of our son. What followed was catastrophic. He wasn't healthy, and no one knew why, whether he would survive, or what his life would look like. We still don't know, and we don't have answers.

After 5 months in 3 separate hospitals, he came home. We were alone, taking care of our sweet and miraculous child whose survival depended on his tracheostomy, ventilator, oxygen, and G-tube feeds. Life was unbelievably overwhelming, and then we met Marie, who not only helps our son, but also helps our family. Yes, she executes all the nursing duties that are expected (charting, meds, feeds), but she does more- things that can't be written in an order set. She cuddles him, sings to him, reads with him, and does her bootcamp to help him get stronger. When it feels like no one else in the world (even family) understands and loves our son as we do, it is incredible to have Marie in our corner. Because of what she does, I can leave the house knowing our son is in capable and loving.

Thank you, Marie, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
