Marie Edwards, RN

I nominated Marie Edwards for the DAISY Award due to her selfless act of service to the patients of our community and her coworkers. She has shown many years of dedication to Aiken Regional and the citizens of Aiken County and those who visit with kindness, genuine care and concern, and an initiative to give those having a bad day, a better day.

Marie also shows great leadership in running the emergency department which even those not directly involved benefit from. Marie has gone above and beyond her calling as a nurse multiple times, but I would like to name just one that reveals the dedication and heart Marie has. Marie spoke to a grieving family in the bereavement room one day and noticed the room could use a more calming touch for those having their worst day, to which she dedicated her time off the very next couple of days to gather all supplies, come to the department and paint and redecorate the room. I know Marie would never expect to receive anything in return for her services, but I cannot imagine not recognizing such an individual for the DAISY Award.
