I was admitted with a pretty sever kidney infection and kidney stones. I was very ill and in a great deal of pain. Upon admittance to the hospital, I began IV fluids and antibiotics. The next day, I was scheduled for the OR to put in a kidney stent. However, my white blood cell count continued to rise even on IV antibiotics and they rescheduled me for the OR right away. I was pretty upset because neither my friends nor family could make it before I went under.
I have a fear of anesthesia and my nurse, Marie Hales, not only patiently helped me prep, but when she realized how upset and scared I was she took the time to comfort me and helped me have a better perspective going into the OR. I will never forget how kind and compassionate Marie was when I felt scared. She was also there to cheerfully greet me when they brought me back up after recovery. She made my time at Taylor more comfortable, less stressful, less fearful, less painful and more positive than expected.
