Marie Saunders was my nurse for 5 days. On the first day, she spent over an hour calming my fears of another stroke. I just had 2 strokes in the past 2 weeks. She saw that my blood pressure had been high and I wasn't taking any medication for that. She called the monitor nurse practitioner and was able to get me seen that afternoon. Marie spoke with the nurse practitioner and I was able to take my blood pressure medication that was stopped when I was in the hospital. I took that and my blood pressure went down. She spoke with the monitoring nurse who called to check on me. She came back the next day when my blood pressure was high and I took my blood pressure with the equipment and her cuff and it was lower after I took my medication. She was very caring and was very concerned for me when I told her my financial and living situation. She called to get a social worker for me to help me find housing. Also, she recommended a speech therapist after she heard me have trouble reading phone numbers. She said it could help my speech and maybe my thinking. I am so grateful for having a nurse who didn't rush in and out, showed up when she said she would, and followed through on her suggestions to help me through this difficult time.
